Iru-Victoria Chairman commissions 25 block of class rooms
· Donates free GCE and JAMB forms
In order to make today’s youth the leaders of tomorrow, the
Executive Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area,
Pharm. (Hon) Abayomi Daramola has commissioned education and recreation facilities
which would boost the total development of the young people in the LCDA.
Speaking with Eko Akete news recently, Hon. Daramola said
the gesture is to bring succor to the children
who would take over from the
aging adults in the future , adding that it is aimed at giving the children
better opportunity in the development of their God given talents through
learning and recreation.
He explains the rationale behind this move, “On our part, I and
the government of Iru-Victoria Local Council Development Area have provided a
conducive atmosphere for your learning and recreation because we believe that
these are the two key areas for you to be successful leaders of tomorrow”
Among the actions that the LCDA has taken to create
conducive learning is the construction of 10 classrooms with 10 toilets
facilities at Kuramo Junior College, construction of 12 classrooms with
adequate facilities in the Local Government Junior Secondary School, Takwa bay
and refurbishment of 5 primary schools to the state government standards.
Others are provisions of free intensive coaching for General
Certificate Examination (G.C.E) and JAMB candidates for three months and the
distribution of free forms of both exams for the LCDA youth.
Hon. Daramola said that since his administration is aware
that an idle mind is a tool in the hand of devil, the youth of the LCDA are fully
engaged in recreation activities for all round development. He said that LCDA
youth came first in Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s under- 14 football competition.
He stressed that this feat was as a result of the premium placed by his administration
on sport which make the LCDA to sponsor the Oba Oniru Cup and Chairman Cup.
He explained that LCDA is not faring bad either in education
sphere as its representative came third
and fifth in the Secondary and Primary categories of the just concluded
inter-schools spelling bee competition. He then charged the youth to take
opportunity of the programmes of the LCDA to empower themselves mentally and physically,
“All these incentives are created to mentally and physically empower you for the
future; I believe that the youth would make utmost use of these opportunities
for their academic pursuit and moral upliftment,” he concluded.
